Your local graph data
The local MCP server stores graph data on your machine. Your MCP client can read that data through tools and may send it to its configured model provider. Extensions and connectors can have their own network behavior. Review their configuration before using sensitive information.
Optional telemetry
The published engine, version 1.1.0, contains telemetry code that can send usage counts, session statistics and a generated machine identifier. The former diagnostics service has been retired. Set DO_NOT_TRACK=1 or BACKPACK_TELEMETRY_DISABLED=1 in the server environment to disable those requests. The website quickstart includes this setting.
Package downloads and version checks
Installation through npm contacts the npm registry. The viewer may check the registry for updates. Local storage is not a guarantee that every component runs without network access.
Source
You can inspect the engine and viewer source. Behavior depends on the version and configuration you run.
